Raising money to benefit SO45 resident is what we are all about!!!

“£5,600 raised for local good causes – thank you SO45 residents!!”

The official launch of SO45 Online seems a distant memory now.

A little over a month ago a charity music festival was held at The Langley Tavern to launch SO45 Online not only as a local community website but also as a local community project raising money and awareness for SO45 causes.

We are finally delighted to announce after all the counting that thanks to all of the hundreds of you that paid to attend, bought raffle tickets, put money in the buckets to support Wades waxing, played on the super slide, had a go at the penalty shoot out or  just put over sized sumo wrestler outfits on and rolled around on the grass that we raised the grand total of £5,600.

So thanks to everyone that attended all 4 local causes, ‘The Handy Trust’, ‘Waterside Cancer Support Centre’, ‘Home Start New Forest’ and ‘The Paul Brogan Benevolent Fund’ all benefited to the tune of £1400 each which is a fantastic achievement.

We at Home Start New Forest would like to give a massive thank you for the donation from SO45, this money will go towards helping our families give their children a good start in life.

Sharon Fitzgerald from Home Start New Forest

A lot of time, energy and money does go into organizing these events and we at SO45 would like to thank everyone that helped from Sharon Fitzgerald and her team at Home Start New Forest, to Wade Horton and his team of lads representing the Paul Brogan Benevolent Fund, Val Freeman and her volunteers at Waterside Cancer Support and Ann McDonald and her helpers from The Handy Trust.

All of these along with various family and friends that all pitched in on the day.

A final huge thank you to Chris, Lee & Julie at The Langley Tavern for being such amazing hosts and for their fantastic donation from their profits taken on the day to contribute to the final total of £5,600. Thank you so much from all at SO45!!

Words from SO45 creator Michael Osman and Editor Donna Ross:

To see all the hard work going into organising this event and the charity walk for Stacey Hartley a month earlier you can see the power of galvanising the local community to help their own, that’s the power of local community and that’s the power we believe of SO45 Online as a central focal point helping this happen. Between these two events in the space of a month £10,000 was raised as clear profit helping local good causes. We will be doing a lot more of this as well as helping local businesses promote their excellent services to the c 40,000 people that live in SO45. We aim to work with you all as well as the other sponsors of SO45 Online who have helped to kick start this local project that you all can use and benefit from.

People of SO45 get involved!

If you would like to promote a local event or good cause or indeed your business and want SO45 to help you please get in touch by emailing getinvolved@so45online.co.uk or calling 07843 588710 and we would be delighted to help.

Many thanks

Michael & Donna and the rest of the SO45 Team
