We are very pleased to announce that we have just handed a cheque for £7,000 to the fantastic Waterside Cancer Support Centre with the monies raised from the 2nd Annual SO45 Online Charity Golf Day held in the summer.
70 players from the local are battled it out to be crowned this years champion golfer and winner of the fantastic Paul Brogan Memorial Trophy.
This year’s winner was Lee Hall. Well played Lee!
Val Freeman from the WCSC attended the day and had this to say:
“Waterside Cancer Support Centre are “Building a Better Future” The new single storey extension to their existing premises at The Grove in Hythe will commence on Monday 1st December. The much needed expansion of the Cancer support centre will enable them to see more people affected by a cancer diagnosis. The centre will include a counselling suite, therapy room, and a larger befriending area.
SO45 has donated £7,000 to the new venture and I (Val Freeman) as centre manager would like to thank Michael & Donna for organising the golf day at Dibden Golf Club and for all their loyal support since the centre opened its doors in 2010. It’s an amazing donation that has allowed us to start the extension and offer so much hope for many of our community that is suffering from a cancer diagnosis. The new cancer support centre which will open in 2015 will be a great asset to the community. It’s thanks to fundraising events like this we have been able to extend the services we offer. We couldn’t have achieved this without them”
We would like to pass on a huge, massive thank you to all that played, Paul Smith & Ellie Preston at Dibden Golf Course, all the SO45 Online, Hole and Prize sponsors and for all the generous raffle prizes donated, Cathy Bartlett for her help and to everyone that purchased raffle and auction prizes, superstars everyone of you.
We will soon announce next year’s event date.
It’s a pleasure to be able to support such a great local cause and in helping the proposed building extension down at the Grove finally get out of the ground.
To Val and all your team please keep up the good work.
Thanks again everyone involved
Michael, Donna & The SO45 Online Team
