The SO45 Lottery have chosen ‘Families Matter’ based in Hythe as their good cause for April. This means that there will be a 50% cash prize for the winner to be drawn at the end of April and 50% will go to Families Matter.
Families Matter is a voluntary charity supporting families in the villages of the Waterside, an area between the New Forest and the Solent.
They provide support to families through ‘OTRT’ a schools programme supporting children transitioning from primary to senior schools, parents with children with special needs, one -to-one support and much more.
A wide range of support is given including 1-1 with children and parents, support for children transitioning from junior to secondary school, anger management for children suffering with difficulties and support and assistance to parents with special needs. Families matter uses its facilities, skills and partnerships with various organisations such as CAMHS, educational psychologists, ACSO and the police to help improve relationships, develop new skills and confidence, to understand child behaviour, manage change and to communicate effectively.
Families matters is such an important organisation which helps improve social skills and life chances of children and parents. They work together for the child, their family, the schools and the whole community.
